Football legend and player of the century, Diego Armando Maradona has been hospitalized in La Plata, news broke out on Monday.

Despite the urgency attached to the news, Dr. Leopoldo Luque insists that there’s no emergency and that the Argentine playmaker can leave if he wants to.

“He needs to stay hydrated, get some blood tests and studies” said the veteran doctor. He went further, “My idea is to have him at least three days to check on him and keep him under control, he (Maradona) is psychologically ill and that can affect his physical health”

Diego Maradona clocked 60 last Friday and currently manages first division side Gimnasia La Plata and was in the dugout early on in the 3-0 victory over Patronato.

The 1986 World Cup star isn’t a stranger to the doctor’s bed, he had a major health scare in January 2019 with internal bleeding in his stomach and was notably filmed to have passed out in an executive box during the 2018 World Cup game between Nigerian and Argentina.

Everyone at Gimnasia understands the health risk of Maradona and have been very careful with him with respect to COVID-19 rules, as he is considered in the high risk group.

The former Barcelona, Napoli and Boca Juniors star is said to be stable but needs monitoring; since 2004 when he suffered severe heart and respiratory problems which was associated his long standing battle with drug addiction, he’s been under the knife for gastric bypass operations.
