"It will be a difficult season" - Jose Mourinho warns Manchester United
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich last night in a pre-season friendly played at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
United finished the game with just one shot on target and 28% possession against Bayern Munich's 13 shots and 72% possession.
The performance was heavily criticized on social media as fans expected United to show more ambition than to sit back to defend in a friendly match.
The former Chelsea manager has come out to warn United fans to expect a difficult season if they club refuse to spend compared to their rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool.
"My CEO knows what I want and I still have a few days to wait and see what happens," Mourinho told MUTV after the Bayern Munich loss.
"The other clubs who compete with us are really strong and already have fantastic teams. Or they are investing massively like Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody.
"If we don't make our team better it will be a difficult season for us."
The red devils have so far signed three players this summer - Brazil midfielder Fred for £47m, Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot and third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant.
Manchester United's major problem is that they lacked any attacking motivation and it would take a special creative player to sort that out, weirdly they are currently been linked to only centre defenders which they don't lack with the transfer window closing on Thursday.
United will face Leicester City on Friday in the Premier League opener at Old Trafford.
