Lionel Messi receives the fourth golden shoe of his career
Argentina star and captain received his fourth golden shoe award yesterday after scoring 37 goals last season in the Spanish La Liga which was the highest goal scored in Europe in the 2016-2017 season.
Lionel Messi praised his teammates for making him a better player: “Individual prizes always come from the collective and this award is for everyone because without my team mates I would not have scored the goals that I did.”
This award brings the Barcelona star level with Cristiano Ronaldo who has also won four golden boots in his career.
Messi received the award from his team mate Luis Suárez, the winner of the prize for the previous season. “Messi is unique due to the different things he can do in each game,” said the Uruguayan forward.
