Hart's error gave Man City a nervy finish in slim win vs Norwich
Norwich City visit Manchester City at the Etihad with little hopes. Alex Neil wouldn't expect an easy afternoon but after seeing his side gifted a goal by Joe Hart, he would be rueing his luck after the late penalty that denied his team a famous point.
Kelechi Iheanacho was handed his first start in the league as Aguero and Silva continue to heal while Bony kept his place in the front line. Norwich City soaked up the early pressure as the Vitizens poured forward.
Wilfried Bony fluffed several chances in the first half, he however drew a fine save from Ruddy after a clean Yaya Toure layoff. The latter saw Ruddy palmed over his sleek free kick before halftime which resulted in Norwich's only chance of the half, a fine counter which fell at the feet of Matt Jarvis but his effort was well saved by Joe Hart.
City were left frustrated as Norwich kept blunting their chances. Bony was left bewildered when Sebastian Bassong denied him a shooting chance. Pellegrini turned to Raheem Sterling in the 51st minute as he came on for Iheanacho. The change changed the home side's approach and ultimately gave birth to City's opener.
Nicolas Otamendi opened his account with a firm header from Kevin De Bryne's corner. Pellegrini hauled off De Bruyne with Sevilla trip coming up in few days.
It was going to prove costly when Joe Hart dropped the ball from a Robbie Brady cross to the delight of the lurking Cameron Jerome.
The game was heading to a stalemate until Martin Russel handled the ball in the area and was sent off. Yaya Toure blasted past Ruddy and then got substituted. Toure appeared disgruntled by the decision but it was Hart who stole the show afterwards. His point blank save from Olsson kept the score in City's hands and City went on to win another penalty deep into added time when Rudy hacked down Sterling but Aleksandra Kolarov missed from six yards out.
