Arsene Wenger surely joking when he suggested resting Ozil or Sanchez vs Bayern (Video)

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger came out with a curious statement when asked about the crucial Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

Despite some fine form in the Premier League, Arsenal are seriously up against it, having lost both Champions League matches so far, against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos.

When asked about facing what appears to be an unstoppable machine in Bayern Munich at The Emirates, Wenger appeared to hint at resting Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez for the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Surely there must be some mistake!

Wenger is either trying to play mind games with Guardiola or perhaps is trying to scare Sanchez into training a little harder!

The full quote is here:

“Obviously there is no obvious reason to change completely the team. Maybe one or two I do not know yet. I have to see as well how everybody recovers. I could rest a little bit (Mesut) Ozil and Sanchez and we have, of course, to put pace into this game and play against a big team. But we know we have put ourselves in a bad position in the Champions League and we want to make something special against Bayern because that’s the only way we can keep in the race, we can stay in the race (for qualification).”

Arsenal fans should probably be relieved that there was no mention of Petr Cech, who will surely start against Bayern after the disaster of a display from David Ospina against Olympiakos.
