David De Gea who has had to put a turbulent summer behind him after seeing a dream move to Real Madrid collapse earlier this month, made several game winning saves to thwart a resilient Southampton side.

David De Gea’s most notable save came midway through second half when the keeper somehow clawed a Jose Fonte goal bound header off the line with this left hand.

After the match the goalkeeper posed for a selfie with United’s German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger. The former Bayern Munich star was in no doubt as to who the Man United hero was this afternoon.
