Sad: Brazilian superfan Clovis Acosta Fernandes passes away at 60
One of the most famous fans in world football has sadly passed away today.
Clovis Acosta Fernandes was a Brazilian superfan, who made sure his face was on camera at every World Cup since 1990.
Clovis Acosta gave rise to one of the most memorable images from the 2014 World Cup during Germany’s 7-1 win against Brazil, as, clutching his fake World Cup trophy, and with tears in his eyes, he summed up the feelings of an entire nation as the Germans crushed the Selecao on their home soil.
According to reports in Brazil, Clovis died at the age of 60 after losing a nine year battle with cancer.
Tweets are currently circulating on Twitter to his well known account @Gauchodacopa.
A brilliant collage has previously been pieced together showing how Clovis Fernandes has been following Brazil at every major tournament since 1990.
