Rio Ferdinand calls Chelsea’s John Terry & Ashley Cole stupid for 2011 race row [Sun]
The Sunday Sun have dredged up the unsavoury past this weekend with an eye-grabbing headline on the front page of their website.
On the same day that QPR defender Rio Ferdinand returns to Manchester United for the first time, the former England international defender is headlined calling Chelsea’s John Terry and AS Roma’s Ashley Cole “stupid” for the race row which blew up in 2011 involving Rio’s brother Anton.
As reported in The Sun:
Rio Ferdinand today lifts the lid on the John Terry racism row that ended their international careers.
In his blistering new autobiography #2sides, Rio, 35, says they no longer speak after John abused his brother Anton during a Chelsea vs QPR clash on October 23, 2011.
And he finds it “impossible to forgive or forget” the pain the ex-England skipper put his family through.
With the Sunday Sun being being a paywall, the Daily Mail have stepped into the breach to add some more details to the story on their website.
The Mail on Sunday add:
[Rio] said: ‘[John Terry] never apologised to me or to Anton. And he has never hinted that he has ever had a moment of understanding over the damage his stupidity had inflicted on everyone.’
