Luke Shaw set to have medical at Manchester United ahead of transfer

Manchester United’s rebuilding project continues apace, with Luke Shaw due to have a medical ahead of a proposed move from Southampton.

Having completed the signing of Ander Herrera earlier on Thursday, it now seems as if the highly rated 18-year-old defender will soon be following the Spaniard into Old Trafford.

Shaw is due to have a medical at the club’s training ground as his much-mooted move to United edges closer.

Southampton value Shaw at £30m although United bid of £27m in May, offering him around £100,000 a week.

He would become Louis van Gaal’s second signing after Herrera paid compensation to Athletic Bilbao to buy himself out of his contract.
