Barcelona join Real Madrid in race to sign Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez celebrates after he killed England's World Cup dream

Barcelona and Real Madrid are hoping to lure Uruguay striker Luis Suarez from Anfiled and the two Spanish giants believe that a £70milllion bid will activate a release clause.

Real Madrid are already targeting the Liverpool star man according to reports in the media in recent weeks,  and now the Catalans are joining the race.

Suarez’s demolition job on England in the World Cup has made him the hottest property in football.
And he last night took a swipe at England boss Roy Hodgson for remarks he made in the build-up to the Group D clash.

Suarez said: “It wasn’t revenge, but in England they talked about the injury and the coach had words that annoyed (me). The England coach said I was a proven Premier League player, but not world class. So there is the answer.”

His comment seemed to be the opening shot in a bid to move from the Premier League.
He admitted he was desperate to score against England, claiming his critics “laughed at his attitude” in his time at Liverpool, which saw him banned for racism and biting.

Barca now feel the time is right to prise Suarez away from Anfield, even though he signed a new £180,000-a-week contract last summer.
