Super Eagles' kenneth Omeruo have been nominated amongst the top 40 young players in the year 2013 for the Golden Boy award.

The Nigerian defender won the African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles earlier this year and he has been a revelation in the defence all through the year before he was injured at the last confederations cup.

Omeruo who is a Chelsea player officially was on loan at ADO Den Haag last season, but he has not been playing all through this season due to the injury and he is not in the Chelsea team.

Surely, this will be sorted out as soon as he is fit again.

The Golden Boy is an award that is given by sports journalists to the young player playing in Europe perceived to have been the most impressive during a season. It was established by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport in 2003.

Previous winners of the award includes, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Aguero, Balotelli, Gotze and last year winner was Real Madrid's Isco.
