Manchester United have made an inquiry for the signing of Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich.

According to various reports coming out of Germany, United officials are currently in talks with the Bundesliga giants for a possible deal that will see Jerome Boateng move to Old Trafford.

The 29-year old has been given the go-ahead to move to another club by the club if the offer is right.

Jose Mourinho is desperate for a centre-back as Boateng is the latest defender the red devils are linked to.

United believe the £45m offer would be enough for Bayern to release the 29-year-old defender.

Boateng who spent a season at United's city rival Manchester City is also a target for other Europeans with PSG leading the way as club chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said they are in talks with the French side.

The Premier League side are still expected to submit a bid for Maguire with Toby Alderweireld and Yerry Mina as options.
