European Round-Up: The Weekend's Winners, Losers, and One Stat That Changes Everything

Winners of the Week

Barca won ugly and that might be the scariest thing about them.

Osasuna 1-2 Barcelona, a scrappy away win at a ground where Osasuna hadn't lost in 10, and Flick's side barely celebrated.

They're on 88 points from 34 games with one loss all season. One.

If Real Madrid drop points against Espanyol this weekend and they didn't, winning 2-0, Barcelona still need just a point or two more to confirm the title.

But nobody seriously thinks they won't get it. Ten consecutive league wins.

This team isn't just good, they're bored of winning.

Watch the match highlights: Osasuna 1-2 Barcelona

Roma deserve a mention nobody will give them.

Four-nil against Fiorentina on Sunday, a statement result that pushes them to 64 points and within touching distance of Juve in fourth.

Roma have won 20 league games this season.

Under Gasperini, they've gone from a team nobody took seriously to a genuine Champions League contender.

And in France, Lyon thumped Rennes 4-2 to stay third on 60 points, six behind Lens and ten behind PSG.

Nobody outside France is paying attention, but Lyon under this rebuild are a problem.

Losers of the Week

Bayern drew 3-3 with Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena. Read that again. Heidenheim.

They went 3-1 down in the second half and needed an own goal in the 100th minute to rescue a point.

Yes, they've already won the Bundesliga. Yes, they've scored 113 goals in 32 games.

But this is a Bayern side that has now conceded three goals to a team fighting relegation at home.

Kompany's defensive structure has been a running joke all season, and this was the punchline.

DUSTBIN AWARD: Metz. Bottom of Ligue 1 with 16 points from 32 games. Three wins all season.

They lost to Monaco at home and have now gone 19 matches without a win.

They're 12 points from safety with six games left.

This isn't relegation form, it's Ligue 2 form in a Ligue 1 shirt.

The sooner they go down, the sooner everyone can stop pretending they belong here.

The Race Update

Let's do this league by league.

La Liga is done,Barca on 88, Madrid on 77, four games left. It's a coronation, not a race.

In Serie A, Inter are on 82 points and cruising to the Scudetto.

Napoli (70), Milan (67), and Juve (65) are scrapping for the remaining Champions League spots, and Roma on 64 are right in that conversation after their demolition of Fiorentina.

Como are sixth on 62 points. Still the best story in Italian football this season.

The Bundesliga is settled at the top but chaotic below Bayern.

Dortmund are second on 67, but after that it's a three-way fight for the final Champions League spot.

Leipzig, Leverkusen, and Hoffenheim/Stuttgart are all bunched around 58 points after Leverkusen beat Leipzig this weekend.

Frankfurt's shock 1-2 home loss to Hamburg adds intrigue.

In Ligue 1, PSG lead on 70 with Lens on 64 and Lyon on 60.

The title race is effectively over, but the fight for second and third and the Champions League spots that come with them is wide open.

Next Week's Must-Watch

Real Madrid vs Barcelona. May 10. El Clasico at the Bernabeu.

Barca could clinch the title on Madrid's own pitch if other results go their way. Madrid are 11 points behind and playing for pride.

Imagine the scenes if Barca lift the trophy at the Bernabeu.

Imagine the silence.

Flick's side have lost once all season. Arbeola's side need to prove they're still relevant.

This is the game of the European season, not because it matters in the table, but because the humiliation factor is off the charts.

STAT THAT REFRAMES THE SEASON: Barcelona have lost one league game all season, one in 34.

They've scored 87 goals and conceded just 25.

For context, Real Madrid have conceded 30, and they're 11 points behind.

This isn't a title win. It's a demolition of an entire league.
