Tuesday's results in the UEFA Champions League look emphatic enough to tell us something about the teams we should expect in the next round; now, let's look at what to expect in Wednesday's fixtures.

Tottenham was well beaten by Atletico Madrid, with Igor Tudor having to bring on Gigi Vicario for Anton Kinsky as early as the first half; the game eventually ended 5-2 in favor of the Spanish side. We can also rule Tottenham out of the race now.

Atalanta was another team that got destroyed on Tuesday. How do you lose 6-1 at home on one of your biggest nights? Bayern Munich successfully laid the tie to rest. The second leg can well be seen as a formality now.

Liverpool lost at Galatasaray 1-0 again. A Mario Lemina header in the opening ten minutes got the job done as the Premier League champions huffed and puffed in vain. It's all to play for at Anfield now for Liverpool and the Turkish champions.

Finally, for Tuesday, Barcelona left it late, but the Spanish side eventually earned a draw at Newcastle. The Magpies were brave, and it took a last-minute error by Malick Thiaw to hand Barcelona a penalty. The second leg at Camp Nou would be fun to see.

Arsenal will be away to Bayer Leverkusen. Lots of people expect the Gunners to settle the tie in the first leg; will this be the case on Wednesday? Mikel Arteta has confirmed that a few players are back from injury. Arsenal must deliver to avoid pressure.

The biggest one without a doubt is the one at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid up against Manchester City for the fifth time in five years will be a huge one. Both sides will give it everything. The whole world will be watching this one.

Chelsea away at PSG is another one to keep an eye on. The reigning champions must step out of their recent slump to show that they're not a spent force this season. Chelsea would look to beat them again after their Club World Cup win last year.

The final game of the day is the one between fairytale runners Bodo/Glimt and Sporting Lisbon. A lot of people have handed the Norwegian side the ticket to the quarterfinal; however, they must earn it.
