Burnley would feel hard done by their own player Jadon Antony, who pulled Amad Traore back at Old Trafford at the death, which earned the Red Devils a late penalty and took the result away from Burnley.

The Cherries were within whiskers of a huge result at Old Trafford, having levelled twice only for a late moment of madness from Antony to help Manchester United out. Scott Parker would love his side to go hard when the champions visit on Sunday; they must be ready.

There’s one big question on the lips of everyone at Liverpool and across the Premier League followers: will British record transfer Alexander Isak start for Liverpool on Sunday or from the bench, as he’s expected to make his debut?

Liverpool completed the signing of the Swede for £125m on deadline day, leaving their attack stronger than almost all others in the whole of Europe as they hope to defend their title and also push hard in the Champions League this season.

Burnley and Liverpool have different expectations this season. After Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday, the Gunners moved to the summit of the Premier League, which means the Champions must pick up at least a point to return to the top.

A point would be enough for Burnley to have a great day; they will take a rare win, but they would be humble enough to know they’re not the favourite for this game, and in fact, Scott Parker is facing Liverpool as a manager for the first time since losing 9-0 to the Kops with Bournemouth in 2022.

Times have changed; nothing suggests that Liverpool would beat Scott Parker’s Burnley 9-0, but everyone expects the Kops to win this one. However, football has a way of showing us new things every match day. We won’t be surprised if there are fresh stunts on the cards on Sunday.

Burnley will try to play expansive football like they did at Old Trafford; this is a home game, but they must be cautious so they don’t get caught out by Liverpool’s deadly attack. Lyle Foster scored against Manchester United; will he get another big goal?

Away from Isak, Hugo Ekitike has been a revelation for Liverpool. Will he score again against Burnley? Florian Wirtz scored a brilliant free kick against Northern Ireland for Germany. Is it time for him to impose himself on the league?

Mohammed Salah is still the man to watch despite his age, and Cody Gakpo on the left will be a menace as he’s been so far this season, but one last question: who plays at right back for Liverpool? The Dominik Szoboszlai who curled in a beauty against Arsenal or Connor Bradley?

Verdict: Liverpool is to win.
