What a weekend we just witnessed in the English Premier League, with intriguing results across grounds and derby delight for Liverpool, who now sit five points clear of Arsenal.

The champions survived a late wave of Everton attacks to win their fifth straight league game and sixth in all competitions. The only difference here is that they didn't need a late goal; instead, they had to defend deep to avoid conceding an equaliser.

The big one at the weekend was Manchester City's trip to the Emirates, and it was strange to see a Pep Guardiola side defend deep to protect a lead. The question now is: Does Guardiola now fear Mikel Arteta?

Arsenal started with the wrong midfield; it also goes to show the limitations of Arteta and his fear of the unknown. You're playing at home against a team that is scared of coming at you, and you still decided to match their fear?

Arsenal fans have started wondering if Viktor Gyokeres is the man to lead them to the title with goals, but how does he flourish when it's Mikel Merino that is supposed to provide him with the ball?

Ebere Eze and Bukayo Saka came on in the second half, and both delivered a performance that earned Arsenal the draw. Why did Arteta keep Eze on the bench and play Merino in the creative role?

Away from the master and his apprentice show, West Ham lost again, and it just keeps looking like Graham Potter won't last on the job, but, in fairness to the former Chelsea and Brighton boss, does he have what it takes in terms of squad quality?

Tottenham leveled late at Brighton to move to stay joint-second on the log, while Chelsea had a bizarre game against Manchester United. Both teams saw red, and the Blues could have levelled late on after United dropped intensity.

Aston Villa finally scored a goal, but they managed to lose their lead despite playing against ten men. Unai Emery must wonder what he must do to finally get a win this season. Newcastle and Bournemouth settled for a goalless draw, while Brentford lost their lead to an Alex Iwobi-inspired Fulham at Craven Cottage.
