What a great way to start the first international break of the season, with Manchester United hosting their biggest domestic rivals, two of the country's most successful clubs with twenty and nineteen titles, respectively.

Manchester United suffered a defeat at Brighton last weekend. It was a game they had in their hands until the last minute of added time. You may question the defensive setup, which had eight Manchester United players in the away box yet three Brighton players were free at the far post.

Liverpool, under Arne Slot, has impressed. It’s a new style and renewed energy. You can feel a few skirmishes here and there, but nothing that can’t be fixed with time and more cohesion. This Liverpool looks like a side that will compete well this season.

Federico Chiesa joined the Reds from Juventus for only £10m; he can play across both wings, and when fit, he’s an unbelievable player; however, his fitness remains a concern, and the Liverpool medics will do well to manage him better than they did at Juventus.

This fixture typically serves up all the juice in the world of sports. Either at Old Trafford or away at Anfield, it’s never an easy one for either side, but Liverpool has enjoyed more success over the years, tilting this one yet again in their favor.

Manchester United will be without Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund for this one, but Mathijs De Ligt could earn his first start in this fixture. With his impressive start to his United career, we expect Nassir Mazraoui to start once more.

Liverpool will keep things as they were last time. At this point, it's uncertain if Chiesa registered in time to play against the Red Devils, but Jarrel Quansah is available while Curtis Jones is awaiting a late fitness test.

Watch out for Amad Traore; his first major statement as a United player was that FA Cup quarterfinal goal against Liverpool last season. The youngster has effectively displaced Antony in the United team and can be the X-factor for the hosts on Sunday.

No player has scored more goals in this fixture than Mohammed Salah; he will remain a threat regardless of the fact that he’s ageing and his pace isn’t the same anymore. In this game, Diogo Jota is another player who could hurt the hosts.

Verdict: Both teams to score
