All is certainly not well at Manchester United following the release of an exclusive interview which star forward Cristiano Ronaldo granted with celebrity journalist Piers Morgan.
The World Cup bound Portuguese star went hard on everyone at Manchester United on issues that range from football, to medical, infrastructure and management and you can tell that someone is done and wants out at any cost.
Everything pointed to the fact that Ronaldo wanted to leave in the summer but the arrival of Eric Ten Hag and a rumoured intervention by Sir Alex Ferguson changed things. Another school of thought opined there was no real suitor outside an offer that arrived from an Arabian club, one the super star was never going to consider.
Ronaldo wants to play, the bottom line remains the fact that he thinks he has everyone under his belt and he can make decisions but the manager won’t have it. Ronaldo had twice left the stadium while the game was on and was duly fined but his latest interview may have broken the camel’s back.
Ronaldo was critical of the manager and said he has no respect for him. Ronaldo questioned the club’s ambition and concluded the club is in the wrong direction under the Glazers; the explosive interview has left the club hierarchy furious but they won’t be drawn into the controversy.
A club chief said: "Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."
Ronaldo begins his World Cup quest against Ghana on the 24th and then Uruguay and Korea complete the group phase. Will Ronaldo get a move away from United after the World Cup or is there a chance he’ll stay till the end of his contract?
