Chelsea sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on a season-long loan as Sevilla reject Jules Kounde bid
Chelsea have signed Saul Niguez on a loan deal with an option to buy from Atletico Madrid.
The 26-year-old was a pivotal figure in Atletico Madrid's La Liga triumph last season, making 33 appearances.
Chelsea initially disputed their ability to sign Saul, but were able to do so by paying a loan fee with the option to make the move permanent.
Sevilla stated earlier this week that they had rejected Chelsea's "inadequate" offer for France defender Jules Kounde.
"I am very excited to start this new challenge with Chelsea," said Saul.
"Blues fans, I am one of you now and I can't wait to wear the shirt, start training and see all of you. See you soon!"
