Following Pep Guardiola’s emotional outburst on Sergio Aguero’s final moments at Manchester City, Leonel Del Castillo, the Argentine striker’s father has come out to label Guardiola as a hypocrite.
33-year-old Sergio Aguero joined Barcelona on Tuesday on a three-year deal after spending a decade at the Etihad with lots of silverware to point at but his father has said Guardiola’s show of tears was insincere and only for the cameras.
The duo of Yaya Toure and Samuel Etoo in the past had at one time or the other attacked the former Barcelona legend of his showmanship but Del Castillo has taken it to another level following the handling of Aguero’s exit from Manchester City.
When asked about Guardiola's emotions, Aguero's father told Argentinian station Radio La Red: "I don't believe him. No, I don't. I believe he never wanted him [Aguero]."
Asked if the tears were for the cameras, he added: "Of course. He wants to be the star of all the teams he is in instead of the players”.
"It's incredible. He [Guardiola] says he is irreplaceable, and he doesn't have him in the squad. These are things of Guardiola, he is a great coach. But from one day to the next he changes the players and you never know if you are going to start or not."
Del Castillo insists Aguero was going to stay but City refused to renew his contract and out of respect for the club, he opted to sign for Barcelona where he will play with Lionel Messi as opposed to staying in England where he got a lot of offers.
