Liverpool are "eyeing" a move for former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.

After months of uncertainty, the Dutchman has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement to leave Liverpool for Barcelona at the end of the season following the end of his contract.

Wijnaldum who is a constant figure in Jurgen Klopp's team will be sorely missed at Anfield.

And Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato is reporting that the Premier League champions are now targeting former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey to fill Wijnaldum's role.

The Wales midfielder left the Premier League two seasons ago to join Serie A giants Juventus after 11 seasons in North London.

But his move to serve A has been plagued with injury as he has only played in 61 matches in the last two seasons.

There have been some speculations suggesting a potential return to Arsenal for Ramsey due to his lack of playing time in Turin as Andrea Pirlo prefers Weston Mckennie, Arthur and Rodrigo Bentacur to him.

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Ramsey.

Juventus are currently struggling financially and it could take away some negotiating power during the Transfer window.

The Old lady reported losses of £99m earlier this season and they are currently 10 points off league leaders Inter.

As a result of the poor situation at the club, rumours suggest Cristiano Ronaldo and Ramsey could be heading out as part of a rebuilding.

Juventus' poor run of form made Pirlo explain why he left Ramsey out of the squad ahead of their match against Cagliari earlier this month.

The manager said: “He has physical problems and is unable to get continuity to his performances because he has to stop every two or three games.

“In the past, he has had major problems that have kept him away from the pitch for months.

“He is precious because he knows how to make the team play well and he plays well. He has only this physical weakness that forces him to stay out every now and then.”
