The absence of Raul Jimenez is proving costly to Wolves as they continue to struggle in front of goal with yet another loss to Aston Villa on a day they had eight shots on target.

Chelsea’s stock crashed last weekend at Goodison Park, right at the feet of their former manager, Carlo Ancelotti and their woes away to Everton continued with an early Gylfi Siggurdsen penalty and they will also do better with finishing, although there’s also a place for Jordan Pickford.

In West Midlands derby where Villa triumphed late of El Ghazi’s penalty, Wolves gave everything and seemed to have earned a point when Emi Martinez won’t let them have the three, poorly timed tug by Semedo handed Villa the advantage and it’s something Nuno Espirito Santo must work on ahead of the visit of Chelsea.

Chelsea are title contenders regardless of the reality check at Everton, they have to win this however, they missed out on the jackpot of other contenders dropping points over the weekend, that was the first time since 2012 that all of the traditional top six will fail to win in a single weekend.

Wolves aren’t doing well compared to their rampaging form last season but the weird season doesn’t show much gap on the table and a few back to back wins can return them to the top six, but first they have to start stringing results together.

Frank Lampard isn’t under much pressure, he learned on Monday that he will be facing Atletico Madrid in Europe come February, tough luck to be honest considering how the La Liga side likes to play conservative football but it’s a very open contest that can swing either ways.

Game week 13 is upon us, a win over Wolves will return Chelsea to the top of the table at least until rivals play, and that is a worthy incentive to pick the maximum points but Wolves must also halt the slide and start picking points, they do have a very strong squad that can achieve a top ten finish, they have points to prove and they must prove it.

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, who missed the last game due to a hamstring injury, is back in the squad to face Wolves, though Lampard did not confirm if the 22-year-old would start.

Chelsea have 22 points from 12 games, with Wolves five points behind in 13th place. It will be a cracker at the Molineaux.

Verdict: Chelsea to win or draw
