Chelsea vs Sheffield United
Chelsea seems to have turned the corner, emphatic win on either sides of the weekend, first at Burnley and then in the Champions League.
Chelsea could go second with a win over Sheffield United on Saturday before close rivals play and that would be a huge boost going into the international break. Frank Lampard’s side is beginning to tick with the return to form of Hakim Ziyech and the goal scoring run of Timo Werner.
Sheffield United still can’t find the magic wand that got them storming past teams in the league last season, in fact, they haven’t found their mojo since the restart and will help their confidence with a result of note here at Stamford Bridge.
The Blades were the surprise package of last season and even have a 3-0 triumph over Chelsea to show for it, will that result have any bearing on the coming fixture?
Chelsea have dropped silly points this season, the game against Westbrom comes to mind and one can argue that they were lucky against the Baggies, they can’t afford to start slow here.
Sheffield will keep faith with young striker Ryan Brewster, but they have to surround him with believers, long balls aren’t going to help against Chelsea with towering defenders, he can challenge Thiago Silva for pace but Reece James will be on hand to cover.
Aaron Ramsdale was no doubt the man of the match when Sheffield played Manchester City with six notable saves, he will have a very busy evening with the Blues on Saturday.
Chelsea will be without Kai Havertz, the German playmaker is down to COVID-19, he has since started medication and should be available for selection after the international break.
