Ahmed Musa scored two brilliant goals as Nigeria beat Croatia to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Coach Gernot Rohr adjusted his team after all the criticism of playing players in wrong positions.

The Super Eagles started with a 3-5-2 formation with Iheanacho and Musa leading the attack, Mikel played in the holding midfield role which he is known for during his time at Chelsea, Victor Moses played as a Right Wing back just as he plays at Chelsea.

Ndidi, Etebo and Mikel dominated the midfield and controlled the play but lacked the creativity to start attacks in the first half as they did not register any shot on target in the first 45 minutes.

Uzoho was more confident in goal as he handled the crosses from set plays in this match, with a strong defensive display and lack of ambition going forward the first half ended 0-0, a scoreline that favours Iceland as they drew their first game.

Nigeria came out in the second half with more guile, four minutes after the break, the three-time African champions played a swift attacking football to score the first goal of the match; Musa heads a long ball into the path of Iheanacho who played a quick pass into space for Victor Moses on the right, the Chelsea winger crossed the ball into Iceland's box for Musa to control the ball perfectly before blasting the ball into the net.

Iceland tried to get back into the game, as they pour forward for an equalizer but Nigeria were in control, the Africans kept creating chances with the Europeans' goalkeeper tipping over a Ndidi screamer and Moses finding a lot of joy on the right.

Nigeria wrapped up the game in the 75th minute another beautiful goal by Ahmed Musa, they turned defence into attack after Omeruo cleared a ball for Musa to beat the Iceland defence with his speed, calmly side step the onrushing Halldorsson before picking his spot for the goal.

The in-form Musa curled a ball against the crossbar as he tried to get his hattrick for the night.

Iceland continue to look for a way back into the game, Gylfi Sigurdsson missed a penalty in the 83rd minute, as Nigeria ran out winners to send their fans into a frenzy.

Nigeria will play Argentina on Tuesday in a crucial World Cup 2018 match, a win or draw should send the Super Eagles into the next round no matter the result in the Croatia vs Iceland game.
