English Premier League: Top performers of week two by @Komptrolla
Picking the top performers of the just concluded round wasn't easy, the entire Manchester City team could have made it into this sheet but we can only have ten players, here we go!
10. Ross Barkley
This young lad only scored twice last season but in just two games he's equalled that this season, his long range effort last weekend was built on by a finish of ultimate composure at St. Mary's stadium, he was pivotal to Everton's shock win and he's not one for the future anymore but one for today and tomorrow.
9. Mesut Ozil
Having lost his bearings in the league opener at home to Westham, Mesut Ozil responded with a display of outrageous quality to propel Arsenal to their first win of the season away at Selhurst, his pin point pass was volleyed home by Olivier Giroud and he could have had many more assists had Alexis Sanchez, Aron Ramsey and the French forward been more precise with decisions. Way to go Mesut
8. Christian Benteke
In a team that lacked spark against lowly Bournemouth, Christian Benteke was the leading light in the scoucers's narrow home win, Brendan Rodgers in his usual style waxed lyrical after seeing his new recruit power home from a Jordan Henderson cross, more of this will do Liverpool a lot of good as they challenge on all fronts.
7. Jefferson Montero
What more can you do to get in here? This gallant Ecuadorean was a menace to everyone he came in contact with on Saturday as Swansea ran out 2:0 winners at the Liberty stadium, Dutch defender Janmaat was sent of before halftime for bringing down the Swansea winger twice, Jordan Ayew scored off his cross and could have scored had the upright not denied him, fantastic winger to watch out for
6. Nathan Redmond
When you play a directionless Sunderland you should have a good day, Nathan Redmond took full advantage and ran riot all afternoon long at the stadium of light, his decent finish was a testimony of his performance and England can hope in this youngster as he makes steady progress at Carrow road.
5. Romelu Lukaku
The beast is gradually beginning to show the stuff we really want to see, to sleek finishes dumbfounded the home crowd at Southampton and could have been more, his pin point header off Aruna Kone's cross was top notch, the Saints goalie had to be alert earlier as the big Belgian powered forward, his second of the day was even better, picking a pass from Ross Barkley before slotting past the keeper, the shadows of last season's underperformance seem to be behind him and Martinez can only be hopeful.
4. Asmir Begovic
You can concede three goals and still be respected, that was the story of the Bosnian shot stopper on Sunday, Kun Aguero stretched his palms to grease that of the Chelsea keeper after repeatedly keeping him out, the champions could have been behind as early as the first minute when the Argentine went clear on goal but Begovich saved, twice after he kept out the City forward before been beaten by close range tuck in by Aguero, none of the City goals were his fault as Chelsea defense did absolutely nothing to protect him. Coutois has a strong competition again.
3. Fernandinho
The entire midfield of Chelsea had it all to do against Fernandinho and Yaya Toure at the Etihad on Sunday, the Brazilian was a menace in the middle of the pack as Fabregas and Ramires labored in vain, his fierce strike at the death settled it all after some fine Yaya Toure run, the Citizens are on a roll and this could be the season they'll regain their title.
2. Riyad Mahrez
Another fantastic performance earns the Fox a place up here, he followed up his marauding at home against Sunderland with a top class display against Westham, he helped his team to prove bookies wrong as the beat Westham at Upton park and his strike shoots him to the top of the EPL strikers chart
1. Sergio Kun Aguero
You can be delayed but not denied as long as you don't stop trying, Begovich stood on his way severally but the little Argentine probed harder, when he picked Yaya Toure's pass and went inside Gary Cahill, there was only one destination for the ball, he was handful for the Chelsea defense all afternoon long and must stay fit to shoot City to the title again.
