David Luiz to James Rodriguez: ‘You’re already World Champion for what you did at this World Cup’ [Video]

David Luiz may not be everyone’s cup of tea due to his rough-house, physical play, but the former Chelsea defender won back a few friends last night with a brilliant show of fraternity and sportsmanship with James Rodriguez.

After the game, which Brazil won largely due to their rattling of Colombia’s James Rodriguez, David Luiz was straight over to Ham-ez to console him.

Luiz pointed to him, telling the crowd that he was the best player on the pitch, and the pair swapped shirts.

Afterwards, the pair did an interview together arm in arm.

Luiz told the interviewer:

‘It’s not only the ones with the trophies who are the great champions.

James has been brilliant, making great plays, scoring great goals, and he can leave here with his head held high, because he’s already a World Champion for everything he’s done at this World Cup.

James thanked Luiz, saying:

‘Playes like him, Dani Alves, coming to talk to me, that made me very happy, so personally, thank you.

Awwwww, so cute.
