Arsenal set to offer a club record £44m to hijack Man Utd's bid for Aturo Vidal [Daily Star]

Arsenal are preparing to launch a whooping £44m bid to sign Aturo Vidal from Juventus according to reports.

The bid will be a club record transfer fee by the Gunners who are looking to hijack the Chilean midfielder from Manchester United, as the Red devils already submitted a £30m bid for his services.

The news of Arsenal's interest of in Vidal comes a day after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger praised the Juve star whilst doing punditry work for French television.

Wenger said: "Vidal is one of the best midfielders in the world.

"He has everything. Incredible stamina, perfect timing. He’s a marathon athlete who plays football."
The news of Arsenal's £44m offer for Vidal will come as huge blow to Manchester United.

Yesterday reports in Italy claimed that United were set offer the Serie A champions £30m for the 27-year-old and earlier this month new United boss Louis van Gaal admitted that he was an admirer of Vidal, and also revealed that he tried to sign the Juve star when he as in charge at Bayern Munich.

Van Gaal said: "I always wanted to buy Vidal when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but he went to Juventus."

Arsenal's huge proposed offer for Vidal could end United's pursuit of the Chile star.
