Jose Mourinho has dismissed the idea that Marouane Fellaini will leave Manchester United this summer.
Reports emerged over the weekend that midfielder Fellaini was a transfer target for Turkish side Galatasaray.
The Super Lig side were even claimed to have agreed a fee for the 29-year-old, who joined United in September 2013.
With the Old Trafford outfit closing in on a deal for Chelsea star Nemanja Matic, many believed that Fellaini could be headed out the exit door.
But Mourinho, speaking after the victory over Valerenga, said that the midfielder would not be leaving.
Fellaini, in the final year of his contract, provided a reminder of what he can do by heading United’s first goal on Sunday, and after the game Mourinho dismissed suggestions he would be sold.
“It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane,” he said. “If they need a manager, they can try and have a chance, but Marouane? Forget it. He’s too important for me.”
