The Italian will leave the manager’s post after the final game of the season on Sunday against Manchester City.
TheWatford Observer says Mazzarri’s departure was as much his own decision as the club’s board, with the Italian increasingly frustrated with ongoing communication issues which have dogged his stay in Hertfordshire.
Publicly, the head coach has reiterated his desire to see out a three-year contract he signed last June, but having tried, and failed, to grasp at least a working proficiency of English, his patience with his own future had worn out.
Mazzarri had also had his head turned by talk of a potential return to Serie A last month, following reports Fiorentina may look to lure him back to Italy, amid somewhat of a culture shock during his 11-month stint in the Premier League.
