Surprise move for Oxford
West Ham starlet Reece Oxford has made a surprise loan move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 18-year-old who shot to fame with an impressive display against Arsenal at the age of 16 hasn’t seen much game time with the Hammers over the last two years. He had a five-month loan spell at Reading last season.
Best place for him
The Hammers are hoping that Germany is the right place for Oxford to have his talents nurtured. Having seen how Chelsea loan star Andreas Christensen developed during his two years at Borussia Park, they’re encouraged.
Oxford signed a new deal with West Ham until 2021 last season, ending rumours of a move away.
Colossal Sports Management posted a picture of the player alongside Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl to confirm the transfer. Oxford can play in central defence or central midfield.
Monchengladbach finished ninth in the Bundesliga last season.
