The bookies are convinced Man United will sign a Chelsea star

Nemanja Matic celebrates Golazo v Spurs

Nemanja Matic to Manchester United?

Manchester United are in the market for a defensive midfielder.

Michael Carrick’s one-year extension is unlikely to secure him a spot protecting the Manchester United backline.

And, whilst Marouane Fellaini has played well under Jose Mourinho, it would be a surprise if Manchester United did not spend big on midfield reinforcements.

With Jose Mourinho not interested in Fabinho, two players have been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent weeks:

Nemanja Matic & Eric Dier

Matic could be surplus to requirements at Chelsea with Tiemoue Bakayoko expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge from Monaco.

The Serbian previously played under Jose Mourinho and knows the Premier League well.

Reports over the weekend suggested that Tottenham would ask for at least 50 million pounds for Dier.

Matic now Evens to join United

Nemanja Matic is on course to reunite with Jose Mourinho this summer, according to Ladbrokes.

The Serbian is even-money to join Manchester United before the window slams shut, with Juventus (7/1) and Bayern Munich (10/1) way behind at second and third in the betting.

Meanwhile, there’s 5/1 on offer for an incredible trio of Matic, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata to all head to Old Trafford in the coming weeks.

“Chump change”

Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “United could soon make neighbours City’s recent spending look like chump change, with Matic the latest in a line of world-class talents targeted.”

Manchester United fans don’t seem generally that excited about signing Matic or Dier. So much so that some have suggested pushing new signing Victor Lindelof into midfield.

This seems hugely unlikely and Marouane Fellaini starting the campaign in the Manchester United midfield has to be a real possibility.
