As Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool prepare for Champions League football next season, the recruitment process has begun at Anfield in order to find worthy acquisitions which would strengthen their push for silverware in both Europe and domestically next term, come the opening of the imminent summer transfer window.
One position the Reds are looking to strengthen is out wide, with reports suggesting the club are interested in former target Mohamed Salah, who previously turned down a move to Merseyside to join rivals Chelsea.
According to Calciomercato.com – via Football Italia – Liverpool have reignited their interest in capturing the now AS Roma winger.
Klopp is said to admire the tireless Egyptian attacker and has supposedly enquired about Salah’s availability. However Liverpool’s interest will come at a cost, as the Giallorossi’s new sporting director Monchi has slapped a hefty €50m price-tag on the star’s head, and is not apparently unwilling to negotiate on the fee.
Salah has vital Premier League experience, but was somewhat unloved by Chelsea who sold the the 24-year-old to Roma last summer for €20m.
Since Salah’s arrival at the Stadio Olimpico last year he has managed to bag 17 goals and 15 assists for Luciano Spalletti’s fold in 39 appearances – a tally which has earned a number of eager suitors, including Liverpool.
The hefty price tag may prove too much for the Reds however, with defensive positions more of a summer priority for Klopp.
