Italian club AS Roma have decided against the chance to sign Barcelona and former Arsenal star Thomas Vermaelen following a loan spell.
The Belgian left North London for the Camp Nou back in 2014 but his career has continued to slide since then.
Following an unsuccessful spell at the Catalan giants, Vermaelen looked to get his career back on track in the Serie A.
Now, Roma have decided to not follow up on a clause which would see the defender move on a permanent deal.
That says a lot of a defender who was once one of the better defenders in the Premier League.
Now, it is yet to be seen where Vermaelen will go from here after returning to Barcelona.
Safe to say he will not be getting into the Camp Nou defence anytime soon.
