Danilo set for Chelsea
The main article on Madrid-based newspaper AS’ website on Monday concerns the imminent departure of Danilo to Chelsea.
Whilst Blues fans are preoccupied with the future of Diego Costa (surely at Atletico Madrid) and who Chelsea will bring in up front, Antonio Conte is strengthening his backline.
Antonio Rudiger has already been brought in and whilst a move for Alex Sandro has floundered, Chelsea are close to signing Danilo from Real Madrid.
Danilo could well be first choice at Chelsea next season. At worst, the Brazilian will put considerable pressure on Victor Moses for the right wing back slot in Antonio Conte’s side.
How will Real Madrid replace Danilo?
So sure are AS of Danilo’s departure to Chelsea that they have written up all the possibilities available to Zinedine Zidane this summer.
Danilo’s move to Chelsea leaves Real Madrid with one recognised right back: Dani Carvajal.
Los Blancos could use Nacho as a sub for Carvajal, when he is injured, suspended or Real Madrid rotate.
Alternatively, new signing Theo Hernandez could also be used to replace Carvajal. At a stretch, attacker Lucas Vazquez could also be moved to right back, suggest AS.
Could Real Madrid replace Danilo by buying a new player?
Another option is Real Madrid youth team player Achraf Hakimi.
Amongst the Real Madrid options to replace Chelsea-bound Danilo is to buy a player this summer, to cover Dani Carvajal.
Names mentioned so far are Real Sociedad right back Alvaro Odriozola, Monaco’s Djibril Sidibe (who signed a new contract last week) and Presnel Kimpebe of PSG.
But, pretty much all the options mentioned above would cost 40 million euros, which suggests Chelsea are getting a good deal at 30 million euros, if they sign Danilo for this fee.
