According to a report from Spanish outfit Don Balon this morning, the Clasico battle between Real Madrid and Barcelona is set to extend far beyond the finish of the La Liga campaign, with both sides having set their sights on a Premier League wonderkid this summer.

Liverpool talent

The player at the heart of the story is Liverpool’s 17-year-old sensation Ben Woodburn, who became the Anfield club’s youngest ever scorer earlier this season.

Previous interest

The Welsh youngster is thought to have been a target for Camp Nou giants Barcelona for some time now, with Woodburn’s impressive performances for the Reds’ first team this season having convinced them of his talents.

Welsh connection

However, the rumoured interest of Champions League finalists Real is a relatively new one, with today’s Spanish report claiming that it was Woodburn’s fellow countryman Gareth Bale who alerted the Bernabeu club to his talents, insisting that the Blancos clinch a deal ahead of their fierce Liga rivals.
