The world’s two finest players, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, do battle again this weekend in another hotly-anticipated El Clasico and to celebrate the event, a rather strange painting has been spotted on the streets of Barcelona.
Paseo de Gracia was adorned with the image of the two footballing superstars sharing a passionate kiss, as reported by AS.
Yes, you did just read that correctly, do not adjust your screen. The, shall we say, creative piece of art can be seen below.
The image was created by urban artist ‘TV Bo’y who is renowned for his controversial pieces, the Spanish Banksy if you will.
The art piece was created on Wednesday night for the public to gaze at on Thursday morning and it certainly will remind the locals that this weekend, Barcelona face perhaps their most important game of the season at the Bernabeu.
The Blaugrana were dumped out of the Champions League on Wednesday by Juventus and now, to revive their hopes of winning La Liga, they simply must beat their arch nemesis.
Last season, they did just that in the Spanish capital, winning 4-0 without Messi in what will be remembered as one of Rafael Benitez’s darkest days as a manager.
All signs suggest that the same scoreline will not occur this time but given the fact that both sides have displayed frailties of late, it should make for a goal fest.
Fans will be desperate for their beloved stars to show passion on the hallowed turf of the Bernabeu. However, it’s unlikely it will be the same passion depicted in TV Boy’s creation.
