Malaga will receive €1m from Real Madrid if they fail to beat Los Blancos

Malaga conflict

Real Madrid need to avoid defeat against Malaga to ensure their first La Liga title since 2012.

With Barcelona breathing down their necks, getting something from the Rosaleda could be tough.

Former Barcelona forward Sandro Ramirez has been in red hot form this season. Everton are said to be close to an agreement to signing him. He’s said that he’d love nothing more than to spoil Madrid’s party.

But here’s the thing: Malaga will get paid €1 million if Real Madrid win the title.

Bonus payments

This isn’t an illegal payment or anything of the sort. The agreement has been in place for several years now. When Isco moved to the Bernabeu in 2013 the deal was worth an initial €27m. There were a number of add-ons.

Malaga could have received up to €3m in bonus payments. €1m for each title Isco won in his first five seasons at Madrid. If he won three then they would get the full bonus. As of yet, he’s won none and this could be his first.

La trama se complica.
