Following the disappointment of being knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus, Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is adamant that a trip to the Bernabeu is exactly what the players need to quickly re-focus, according to Football Espana.
With La Liga moving into its final stages, Barca will need to put the disappointment behind them as this is their best opportunity to pile on the pressure on Real Madrid with six games remaining in the campaign.
Speaking in his press conference following his side’s departure from the Champions League, Enrique said: “After a defeat like this, it’s difficult to wake yourself up.
“But we have the best motivation a Barcelona fan can have – which is visiting the home of our eternal rivals. As I said as a player, there is no better place to go for a Barca fan or player than the Bernabeu.”
With their recent form securing only four wins from their last eight games in all competitions, Barca will be hoping the old cliche that form goes out of the window in these type of matches comes to fruition. As Enrique’s job has also been made harder after being unable to call upon his star playmaker, Neymar due to suspension.
He added: “Obviously it will be difficult, with a special atmosphere, but it is a marvellous stimulus for us.
“So it will be difficult to revive the players, but very easy to motivate them.”
Although Real Madrid have recorded more wins in the fixture over their fiercest rival, history will stand for nothing when these two clash on Sunday as they both look to stake their claim for the La Liga title.
