Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that the amount of injuries suffered by the Reds has essentially ruled them out of the title race.
The only players to stay injury free this season have been Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner, with others either injured, away or both.
Klopp said: “The injury situation makes it not easy for us in a lot of situations. I think we all agree if we could have played our first 12 or 13 the whole season, we are only what six or seven points away from the very interesting reach in the table.
“It could have been interesting, but it is not important now because we don’t know if for sure, and we are not allowed to look back.”
Top four fight
Liverpool have a game against Crystal Palace this weekend while their rivals for the top four are fighting it out in the FA Cup, and have the chance to increase the gap even more, and while other sides will have a game in hand, points on the board at this stage of the season are far better to have.
The Reds know Champions League football will increase their prospects of signing top talent this summer, along with an increased amount of money.
