Valencia are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal’s French midfielder Francis Coquelin, amid rumours Arsene Wenger will shake up the squad this summer as he looks to improve on an underwhelming season.
The 26-year-old has made 34 appearances for the Gunners so far this season, but has fallen down the pecking order at the club, with Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey emerging as Arsene Wenger’s preferred pair in midfield.
His deal doesn’t expire until 2021, as he signed fresh terms with the London side back in January. Yet he may be inclined to leave the Emirates in search of more playing time; and Valencia are said to be considering an offer, according to Spanish publication AS.
Arsenal are looking to revamp their squad after one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory, and things could get even tougher for the midfielder.
The club are in danger of missing out on the Champions League for the first time under Arsene Wenger, and need Liverpool to lose their last match against Middlesbrough on Sunday to have any chance of finishing in the top four.
According to the report, Valencia want to take the player up on a season-long loan before deciding if they want to spend money on a permanent deal.
The Spanish side are also believed to be interested in signing Ignacio Camacho from Malaga, and are hopeful of pulling both deals off.
