Juventus number one Gianluigi Buffon has revealed he hopes his side don’t get drawn against Atletico Madrid in the draw for the Champions League semi-finals.
Juventus held Barcelona to a 0-0 draw at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night to win their quarter-final tie 3-0 on aggregate, becoming only the third side to prevent the Spanish club from scoring over two legs in the Champions League.

Buffon admits he was surprised Juve were able to prevent Barcelona from scoring over two games. He told Mediaset Premium (via the Metro):
“I did think we had a good chance of qualification after the 3-0 first leg result, but I honestly didn’t believe we would come to Camp Nou and keep a clean sheet.
“When you face a side like this, with their attacking options, you think that one or two goals are always going to be scored.
“The fact we stopped Barcelona scoring over 180 minutes of football means we really are solid.”
Buffon now has his eyes on Friday’s semi-final draw, and has insisted that he would rather see Juventus drawn against AS Monaco or Real Madrid than Atletico, he said:
“Maybe it’s better to meet Monaco or Real, who will spend significant energy in the fight for the league.
“They would rotate less, compared to Atletico, who have a more defined position [in the table] and can manage themselves.”
