Jose Mourinho v Cristiano Ronaldo
Spanish paper El Confidencial have an incredible disclosure on Tuesday, as according to their understanding Jose Mourinho doesn’t want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Indeed, the claims go even further, as it’s reported that the Special One would rather sign Alavro Morata from Real Madrid as he rates that move over re-signing Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
In a clear statement, El Confidencial tell their readers “Mourinho wants Morata, not Cristiano”.
However Mourinho could yet be overruled about Man United’s pursuit of the Portuguese star.
What’s the story?
Unfortunately, the article fails to really explain why Mourinho is so against United signing Ronaldo. However, readers are informed of a potential battle in the boardroom at the Theatre of Dreams:
While the two (Mourinho and Cristiano) share an agent, Jorge Mendes, the Special One has made it clear that his priority is Morata, and (he is) in no way contemplating bartering for Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the last word is the owners of the club, the Glazers, and the American family view Ronaldo as a symbol to continue growing influence in their country of origin and in the South American market, once Asia is conquered.
It’s worth remembering that Mourinho had a tense relationship with Ronaldo during his three-year spell as manager at the Bernabeu.
The English press
Several papers in England continue to trumpet links between the Real Madrid superstar and Man United on Tuesday.
The Sun claim Ronaldo will not hold Man United to ransom over his wage demands to make sure a transfer can go through this summer.
The Mirror also big up belief Ronaldo to Man United could happen, while the Daily Mail claim the Red Devils are set to “cool” interest in Cristiano as they are “wary of being used in the superstar’s battle with Real”.
