Chelsea are planning a £40m double transfer for Monaco duo Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva, according to the Mirror.
Both were stand out performers as the Ligue 1 leaders beat Manchester City over two legs in the Champions League last 16.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly been impressed by the performances of Mendy and Silva, both 22, and could target them to improve his squad with Champions League football next season.
Mendy’s marauding, energetic displays at left-back, as well as his physical and attacking attributes could appeal, with Conte currently playing with wing-backs in his 3-4-3 system.
Silva, meanwhile, has been linked with numerous top clubs, including Manchester United, having scored eight goals and provided eight assists in all competitions this season.
French international Mendy would reportedly cost around £12m, while Silva is believed to have a value of around £28m.
Monaco’s excellent season so far has unsurprisingly attracted the admiring glances of Europe’s elite. The likes of 18-year-old Kylian Mbappe, already drawing comparisons with Thierry Henry, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Thomas Lemar have been linked with summer exits, and it could be a difficult transfer window for the principality club.
Their in-demand squad currently lead the Ligue 1 table by six points, however, and will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League quarter-final.
