Chelsea eye move for PSG playmaker

Antonio Conte after Boro

According to reports emanating from England and France this afternoon, Chelsea have identified PSG midfielder Marco Verratti as the ideal addition to their side for next season’s return to the Champions League.

Class act

Blues boss Antonio Conte is known to be a huge admirer of the one-time Pescara man, with the former Juventus boss having managed the deep-lying playmaker during his time spent managing the Italian national team.

Big-money move

Reports claim that the recently-crowned Premier League champions are ready to offer £55 million for Verratti, though this falls some way short of his rumoured £85 million valuation at the Parc des Princes.

Tactical change

Conte feels as though Verratti would add another element of creativity to his midfield, with the regular deep-lying duo of Nemanja Matic and NGolo Kante more defensively minded than the PSG man.

Cesc Fabregas is always at the disposal of Conte and has been immense during limited playing time this season, but the Italian tactician feels that his squad requires extra options ahead of a campaign that will require the London club to compete not only domestically, but also in the Champions League.
