Chelsea defender David Luiz has admitted that he loves Tottenham’s ‘monster’ team but believes the Blues have a few specimens of their own.
Luiz’s Chelsea face Tottenham on Saturday with a spot in the FA Cup final at stake, and the Brazilian says his side’s Premier League title rivals are impressive physically.
He told the London Evening Standard: “For me they are an amazing team with an amazing coach in Mauricio Pochettino. They are the best physical team in the league. All 11 players are monsters. I love that team.
“It will be a difficult game for us. We need to be ready to play against one of the best sides in this league. But it was always going to be hard when you reach a semi-final.”
While Spurs may boast a terrific midfield partnership of Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, Luiz was quick to point out that Chelsea have a few beasts of their own, identifying N’Golo Kante as one of his side’s top players.
“Will we have to be monsters too? Yes. Chelsea also have some monsters and play like a monster like N’Golo Kante. We have different kind of monsters,” Luiz added.
“It will be a fantastic game, both clubs are in amazing shape. It will be a top-quality match to watch and you have to play top quality to win.”
Luiz was included in the PFA Team of the Year for this season, alongside team-mates Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and Kante, but the former PSG man insisted nothing has been won yet.
“Of course, I’m happy, but the season is not over. Football changes from one day to the next, so I keep my feet on the floor, stay grounded. I keep my humility.”
