Barcelona are willing to offer midfielder Rafinha as part of a swap deal for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, according to notorious Spanish rumourmongers Don Balon.
Coutinho has long been linked with a move to the Nou Camp and the deal would also include a cash sum. Brazil midfielder Rafinha is not seen as a vital player at the Spanish giants and the club would be willing to let him leave in order to sign Coutinho, who has arguably been Liverpool’s best player this season.
The Liverpool midfielder has contributed 12 goals and seven assists in 30 Premier League appearances and his form has led to speculation regarding his future at Jurgen Klopp’s side.
There have been constant rumours of Coutinho linking up with Brazil team-mate Neymar and Rafinha’s departure could be used as a makeweight for the signing of the former Inter playmaker.
Barcelona are keen on overhauling their entire squad this summer after disappointing La Liga and Champions League performances, although they could still claim the Copa del Rey trophy should they beat Alaves.
Andre Gomes had been mentioned as a potential player to be swapped for the £76m-rated Coutinho, but the investment made by Barcelona for the Portugal international and the time needed for him to him to adapt has convinced the club to give him another season.
Rafinha has contributed six goals and two assists in 18 La Liga matches, 14 of which were starts, but the presence of Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Arda Turan has limited his game time.
