What’s with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?
On Sunday, French daily Le Parisien dropped a huge piece of transfer gossip claiming Liverpool are firmly in the market for one of the best strikers in Europe: Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Were Aubameyang to move to Anfield, Jurgen Klopp would add a marquee striker to the Reds who could transform the whole shape of their side.
With Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in support of Auba, Liverpool would have one of the most lethal attacks in the Premier League. Let alone Europe.
Le Parisien claimed Liverpool are ready to snap up Aubameyang, as it was reported that FSG are prepared to pay Dortmund’s €70 million asking price, while the Gabonese international star is keen on joining up with Klopp, who recruited him at BVB.
Man City in the mix
But on Tuesday morning, the big story in the Sun is that Man City have made their move for Aubameyang.
Do City need him? Pep Guardiola already looks well-stocked up front with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in his squad.
As fans may wonder how Aubameyang would fit in at the Etihad, the Sun tell their readers the following:
Pep Guardiola is set to table a bid for the prolific Gabon striker.
A host of clubs believed to be desperate to add the Gabon international to their ranks this summer, Guardiola has played his hand.
Aubameyang was the top scorer in the Bundelsiga last term with 31 goals in 31 games. In total he scored 43 goals for club and country in 2016-17.
