The current season has been a frustrating one for all involved with Arsenal.
From the fans watching their team crumble mid-season once again, to boss Arsene Wenger being relentlessly harassed to resign, to the players simply not performing.
But for one striker at the North London club, the season may have proven more disappointing than for anyone else.
Olivier Giroud has been in and out of the Arsenal team on an almost weekly basis throughout the current campaign.
While several injury problems have left the big Frenchman on the treatment table for considerable spells, when fit, Giroud has still not been capable of holding down a spot as the spearhead of Arsene Wenger’s attack.
While earlier in the season it was Alexis Sanchez who continually got the nod at centre forward despite Giroud’s return to fitness, the re-emergence of Danny Welbeck following a long-term injury has seemingly seen the former Montpellier man fall even further down the pecking order at the Emirates.
As a result, the French international has reportedly informed the Emirates club of his intention to depart this summer, with Giroud desperate for playing time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
He will likely not be short on suitors, with several clubs in Ligue 1 said to be keeping a close eye on the striker in anticipation of a summer move.
