Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette has revealed that he won’t be playing his football with the French side next season.
Speaking in a candid interview with L’Equipe, the player stated that he will leave the club on May 28, and his last match for them will be against Nice on Saturday night.
Lacazette has been linked with La Liga side Atletico Madrid, but did not confirm that he would be joining Diego Simeone’s side, although he did mention that it would be great to link up with compatriot Antoine Griezmann.
“I think that’s the right time,” he said after being asked his reason for leaving. “I want to discover something else, to test myself and to pass a certain level.
“I know very well that on a European scale, I am not yet very recognised. I want to see if I can answer the questions that people are asking, and to make further progress. We are at a time when everybody finds his account, and that’s good.

“Atletico is a club that has been in the last stages of the Champions League for several years. It is a great team with a new stadium, and it is also a club that makes the players progress. And there is Antoine Griezmann.”
Lacazette also revealed that his future is totally up to him, even if a club offer Lyon more than the one he wants to go to.
“The president told me what he told you at a press conference. It is I who choose my future destination. It is a personal choice of a carefully considered career, which I have done for a long time.”
